02Questions, answered plainly

What is /second?

/second is an always-on, on-demand innovation department for ambitious SMEs. It gives a company innovation, product and AI, finance and viability, and growth capacity without hiring a full internal team. It is based in Leuven, Belgium.

Who is /second for?

Ambitious small and medium-sized companies that want to innovate continuously but cannot justify a complete internal innovation team. Typical buyers are the CEO or founder, operations, product or innovation, commercial and marketing, and HR when the challenge is internal.

Is /second software or a service?

Today it is a service: a senior human team of five, supported by AI assistants. /second brain, the software front door, is being built and is not live yet. The long-term direction is an innovation department that works more and more as software, with people where judgement matters.

What is /second brain?

/second brain will be an always-on innovation consultant that lives with a client's team, helps people describe a problem or idea, and turns it into a structured brief the client can choose to share with the /second team. It is not live yet. Today, the box on the website sends your problem to our mailbox, and a person replies with a short analysis, free, within two working days.

What happens after an idea reaches /second?

A person on the team reads it, and you get a short analysis and a proposed next step, usually one of the fixed-price starters. If you go ahead, the work moves through short loops: ideate, shape, validate, build, launch, learn and scale, until there is enough evidence to move forward, adapt or stop.

What does the /second team do?

Five people with four core capabilities: innovation (Morgane Uyttendaele), product and AI (Thomas Desaranno), finance and viability (Vito Gasparini), and growth (Cas Lambrechts and Karst Vereecken). They work on the same opportunity together rather than handing it from one discipline to the next.

How is AI used, and what stays human?

Each team member works with AI assistants for research, preparation, drafting, testing and review. People make every decision: what to recommend, what to build, what to stop, and what goes to a client. Work is reviewed twice, first by an assistant and then by a person. /second does not claim that any part of the department runs autonomously.

How does pricing work?

Four fixed-price starters, excluding VAT: /second opinion EUR 495, /opportunity scan EUR 1,950, /process sprint EUR 2,450 and /idea sprint EUR 2,950. Prototype, build, launch and scale work that follows is scoped and priced separately. /second brain will be a monthly subscription; its price is not published yet.

What is included in each starter?

/second opinion: one question, an hour with the team and a written recommendation. /opportunity scan: two half-days with your management team, the Opportunity Map, top three priorities and a 90-day roadmap. /process sprint: one week and two sessions on one process, the Better Process Blueprint including what stays human and what can be automated. /idea sprint: one full day on one idea, the Idea Case with proposition, business model, risks and a validation plan.

Does /second have published case studies?

Not yet. /second publishes a case only when the client has approved the story, the visuals and their name. Until then the website shows the organisations the team has worked with, without claiming results.
